Who we are
TieOut is software for reviewing month-end owner statements, operated from California, United States. You can reach us at tieoutme@gmail.com with any privacy question, including a request to see or delete what we hold about you.
The TieOut application
This is the part most people want to know about.
- TieOut is installed and run on your own computer. It reads the files you point it at, such as your statement PDF and your fee spreadsheet, and writes its results on your screen.
- Your statements, tenant names, property data and accounting figures are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. They do not leave your computer through TieOut.
- TieOut does not include analytics, usage tracking or crash reporting. We cannot see how often you use it, what you check or what it finds.
- Your license key is checked on your own computer. Activating a license does not contact us.
- TieOut stores its own settings, such as your saved fee table, your excluded property list and your license key, in a folder on your computer. You can delete that folder at any time.
- Uploaded statement files are processed and then removed from temporary storage when the run finishes.
If you choose to send us a statement, a spreadsheet or a results file by email, for example so that we can help with a problem, we use it only to help you with that request, we do not share it, and we delete it when the matter is resolved or sooner if you ask.
This website
The site is a single page with no accounts, no logins, no advertising and no tracking or analytics cookies. The sample PDF you can download from it is part of the page itself, so downloading it tells us nothing about you.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers may record technical information in their logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, for security and reliability. That is Vercel's processing, described in their own privacy documentation. The page also loads a typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests that file from Google and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
Information you give us
When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply, to arrange a demonstration, and to keep a record of our conversation. Our email is a Gmail account, so Google processes it as our email provider.
If you become a customer, we also keep the business details needed to issue and renew your license, such as your company name, contact email and the size of your portfolio, and records of our correspondence.
Why we may use it
- To answer you and to provide the free check or demonstration you asked for.
- To issue, renew and support your license.
- To keep records required for our own accounting and legal obligations.
We do not sell your information, we do not rent or trade it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else sees it
We keep your information to ourselves. The only third parties involved are the providers we use to operate, principally our email provider (Google) and our website host (Vercel). We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Emails and enquiry records are kept while the relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Files you send us for support are deleted once the matter is resolved. Customer and billing records are kept as long as our tax and accounting obligations require. You can ask us to delete what we hold at any time, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Email tieoutme@gmail.com and we will respond. Depending on where you live, such as California or the European Economic Area, you may have additional statutory rights; tell us and we will honour them.
Children
TieOut is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant and we hold your contact details, we will tell you.
